Memory & Identity

My work revolves around memory, identity, and emotional experience. Around nostalgia and melancholy, vulnerability and the quiet search for belonging through a queer lense.

The figures in my paintings appear at once familiar and distant — like fragments of a moment, a feeling, a memory.

Safe Space

My paintings inhabit this tension: between closeness and distance, visibility and self-protection.

 

They are an exploration of sensitivity and fragility, of those quiet spaces where emotions begin to take shape

Meet the Artist: Lukas Moll

Lukas Moll is a contemporary artist based in Cologne, Germany. Working primarily in oil, his figurative paintings explore memory, identity and emotional experience through a distinctive visual language of blurred and fragmented imagery.

Largely self-taught, Moll has developed his practice over more than a decade. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions as well as at contemporary art fairs across Germany. Recent presentations include the Kunstmuseum Albstadt, Discovery Art Fair Cologne and his solo exhibition When we were almost happy at Galerie Dietrich in Cologne. In 2025, he was awarded first prize at the KÜFO Art Prize at Schloss Zweibrüggen.
